Pacquiao stated in his column, on PhilBoxing.com, that he’s aware of his pound for pound crown being at stake when he faces Shane Mosley on May 7th. Manny also stated that he’s inspired to perform better in his upcoming fight due to his P4P top spot being in jeopardy.

The man who is threatening Pacquiao for the top pound-for-pound fighter status is Sergio Martinez who is coming off an impressive systematic demolishing of the previously undefeated Sergiy Dzinziryk on Saturday, March 12th. Martinez won via an 8th round stoppage after knocking down Sergiy 5 times in the fight. Additionally, Martinez defeated one of the pound for pound best fighters in the world last December when he KO’d Paul Williams in the 2nd round. The
destruction of Williams came about 6 months after Martinez defeated Kelly Pavlik for 2 middleweight championships last June.
